Reviews for Isola Del Nord (Belfry Branch)
Review highlights
Based on 23 reviewsIsola Del Nord (Belfry Branch) is widely praised for its authentic Italian cuisine, highlighted by standout dishes such as Neapolitan-style pizza, seafood starters, and classic desserts like tiramisu. The restaurant’s ambiance is consistently described as inviting and well-appointed, making it a favored spot for those seeking a break from typical local fare. However, several customers note that the location can be challenging to find, situated on the 11th floor of an unassuming commercial building, with some difficulty navigating the entrance. While the food quality is generally regarded as excellent, feedback on service is mixed, with some mentioning room for improvement. Overall, Isola Del Nord offers a unique dining experience valued for its atmosphere and authentic Western flavors.
I had a great experience at this restaurant. The ambience was lovely, and the starters—especially the fried seafood and prosciutto pizza—were delicious. Just a heads-up: the restaurant is on the 11th floor of a rather unusual commercial building, and I accidentally went to the wrong floor at first. Almost gave up, but I’m so glad I didn’t!
This great place must be cherished ; food is great, and the service is flawless. If, like us, you need a break from chinese food, this is the right place. As stated by others, follow google instructions until you reach ICBC. Once on Xihuamen road, head into the alley between ICBC and the fire station: It kinda looks like a parking, but it's the right way. Enter the building and head to the 11th floor. Follow the sign, and you will arrive at a very unexpected and refined restaurant.
Extremely good Italian Restaurant. Pizza in "Napoletana"-Style with nice crust. Also the Tagliata and the Tiramisu are really good. A "Must-Go" if you need italian food in China. Not that hard to find. Google Maps shows you the right building (Just enter the road between the ICBC-Building and the fire department on Xihuamen Road. Go to 11th floor and there you are.
European food. Tasty, but the service is very weak. Good and tasty steak, vegetable salad. Don't take the fish. The restaurant is on the 11th floor in a very strange place
A restaurant that must be treasured as a secret but also opened up for others to frequent and savour its delectable menu. I got lost and almost gave up on finding the restaurant (blame Google maps not working in China) but also can’t blame Google maps as the location of this restaurant is inside a warehouse like building on the 11th floor. Ambiance is very inviting. The place is well appointed. Wine selection was great (although it was Spanish and needs to be Italian), warm bread with olive oil - a trademark of good Italian restaurants - was served first with an offer for another serving that is always appreciated. Menu had a range of pastas, appetisers, pizzas and deserts. Just a tad disappointed there was no ravioli or risotto which marks a restaurant standard higher. I did spot a gnocchi but settled for aglio olio pasta, my companion had the pesto pasta. Dessert was a tiramisu and an absolutely divine chocolate pudding with raspberry sorbet. The sweet and tart combo was 10 on 10. Service is very courteous and when I asked for some bread to mop up the garlicky olive oil from my pasta, I saw a sparkle in the waitress’ eyes. That told me, she likes to see her customers enjoy the creations a la Italia. All in all a perfect evening. Find it or hide it - you win either way.
We had a wonderful lunch. As the other reviewers already mentioned. It’s a bit a peculiar place on the 11th floor. The entrance you can find in the alley between the bank and fire squad.
Lovely meal. So needed a break from Chinese, it was lovely to enjoy fresh ingredients. Delicious carpaccio, pizza and pasta and a bottle of house red. Lovely friendly service too and good value. As others have said little hard to find but look out for bank it’s to the left of this through the back of a car park and up the lift. It was very busy so clearly people know about it!
Ultimate guide how to save 20 mins and proceed directly to the restaurant: 1. The entrance is from from Beida street, not Xihuamen ave or Bajia lane. 2. The pass looks like a car parking entrance. You need to go there. It’s between a fire service and an office building. 3. Enter the building on the left from parking entrance. 4. Go straight to the elevator zone. 5. Take 11th floor. 6. Go to the very end of a corridor, the restaurant will be on the left. 7. You are in. The food is tasty, prices are reasonable, the service is good and personnel speaks English (but sometimes misunderstandings may happen).
